Lor’Rena, one of the newest girls in the cast of Baldwin Hills, is promoted as “the new Sheriff in town.” She joined the cast of Baldwin Hills this season with her sister Aunjel and they were quickly dubbed “The Sister Act” most known for stirring up drama. Fiesty, vindictive and “out to get hers” are a few of the qualities the new Queen brings to the screen. However, Lor’Rena defends what we see as an editing trick, done only to entertain viewers. I sat down with the California girl to find out what’s really underneath all the drama.



BLACKLIFE: I’m a big fan of the show and found myself watching in awe at the season opener; why did you brand yourself as “The new sheriff in town?”

Lor’Rena: I’m not gonna say I’m the new sheriff in town’ but, I’m somewhat gonna hold things down. There’s a twist to everything…what you think will happen is gonna go a whole other way. People who are watching won’t have a clue.

BLACKLIFE: Does it affect you when people think you’re jealous or catty?

Lor’Rena: I don’t really care. People say what they want to say [but] when they meet me I become the fan’s favorite--people who really know me, love me.

BLACKLIFE: How did you find out about the 2nd season?

Lor’Rena: My friend told us about the audition – we were actually the last girls to audition and the casting director kept telling my friend only 3 could audition so we had a big argument and my other friends agreed that me and my sister should go rather than a group audition…and we got it.

BLACKLIFE: How does it feel having your sister on the show with you?

Lor’Rena: Great…when no one else supports me oh she does, and no one else has to. I believe that as long as you have support of family, nobody else matters.

BLACKLIFE: Did you know any of the cast mates before joining the show?

Lor’Rena: I knew Justin, Seiko, Ashley and Johnathan.

BLACKLIFE: How did you get the name Queen Sheba?

Lor’Rena: I got that name whenever I got a new weave. My friends would say my personality changes with my new hair. One day they came up with Queen Sheba because my hair style looked like a wild African safari weave.

BLACKLIFE: I watched the premiere and must admit, it seemed that you were a bit pushy with Moriah; why does it seem as if you’re out to get him and wreak havoc in Baldwin Hills?

Lor’Rena: That tripped me out, but that’s a twist too. If you knew me in real life, you would say I’m nothing like that. There’s something – somewhere, not telling the whole story. This is just what people see on TV. You can not determine a person or how they really act based on TV because it’s fake…it’s entertainment…What does BET stand for? Exactly! It is what it is.

BLACKLIFE: Is there really a conflict between you and Gerren?

Lor’Rena: No…me and Gerren know some of the same people. If there was a conflict, it would’ve been solved a long time ago.

BLACKLIFE: What are you working on besides Baldwin Hills?

Lor’Rena: Modeling and acting.

BLACKLIFE: What are you most proud of as a cast mate in Baldwin Hills?

Lor’Rena: That everyone’s watching.
